Coordinators

Launch Coordinators:

These roles are tentative at year-end, then confirmed in January to open on time.

Coordinators:

  • Arborist & Garden Tree Care

    • Trim trees. This role requires training.

  • BANG Representative

    • Liaison with Brooklyn Association of Neighborhood Gardens

  • Carpentry

    • Fix wood structures around the property as needed.

  • Children's Area (Location 5 on Map)

  • Community Growing Coordinators

    • Ensure that everyone who wants to put "hands in the soil" has an opportunity.

    • Ensure there is someone to tend all areas which are not individual stewardships.

  • Compost (Location 8 on Map)

  • Festival Coordinators

    • PROPOSED EMAIL: events@615green.org

    • Major events, plant sales, festivals

    • Team needs help specifically with Stage Setup and Sound Equipment

  • Fundraising & Grant Writing

    • Should have knowledge of staging events and/or writing grants.

    • Help with our major fundraising events, including plant sales and the Spring & Harvest Festivals.

  • Graphics Coordinator

    • Event graphics and physical signage

  • Group Project Day Coordinators

    • Identify tasks for each of the monthly Group Project Days

    • Coordinate work and oversee the nine monthly Group Project Days

    • Record Group Project Day participants and pass on to Membership Coordinator

      • Members must participate in two workdays each year.

      • Friends, partners, children and members of the public are invited to participate as well

    • Flag any bigger garden projects for the Steering Committee

    • Answer any questions coming into groupprojects@615green.org

  • Mediator

    • Intervenes at the request of the Steering Committee when conflicts arise betwen Garden members.

    • Prefer someone trained in dispute resolution and/or mediation.

  • Movie Night

    • Help select movies for showing in the garden.

    • Secure rentals and manage equipment.

    • Help with publicity, set up and staffing.

  • Outreach & Social Justice

  • Plant Sale Coordinators

    • HOW MANY TEAM MEMBERS?

    • PROPOSED EMAIL: plantsale@615green.org

    • Raise funds for the garden by organizing one or two major sales each year.

  • Publicity Coordinators

    • PROPOSED EMAIL: pr@615green.org

    • Write conventional press releases, Facebook, Twitter updates about our news and major events.

    • (But not Website and Instagram, as those are managed by the Tech Team)

  • Port-a-Potty

    • Schedule Pickup and Dropoff (we have been using "Call-a-Head")

    • Question: Is there maintenance required during the year?

  • Sanitation & Snow Removal

    • NOTE: let's call this "Grounds", and have it include Sanitation and Snow Removal? Include Port-a-Potty, too?

    • PROPOSED EMAIL: sanitation@615green.org or grounds@615green.org

  • School Tours/Guide

    • EMAIL: schooltours@615green.org

    • Answer questions for schools/daycares wishing to visit, including apprising them of our rules and expectations

    • Open the garden for such visitors, or make arrangements for someone else to open for them.

  • Sidewalk and Street Trees

    • No plants or fences or obstructions of any kind may be in the tree pits

      • There was a question about maybe constructing something for the 15th Street Tree Pits?

      • But also a message from Steering Committee that nothing can be in the tree pits (?) Must reconcile.

    • If anything is to be constructed, then a budget line-item may be needed.

    • Keep the sidewalk clear of vegetation outgrowth

    • Remove litter and weeds from tree pits surrounding the garden.

  • Solar Arbor/Pond (Location 21 on Map)

    • Panels, electricity, pump, pond, waterfall, trellis, benches.

  • Tools & Structures (Locations 4/7 on Map)

    • Ensure that tools and structures are in good repair
